I woke up at 6:00am on Day 5.. to get ready to head to Monash Clayton to get on a bus to Flowerdale Estate.. 1.5 hour drive from the campus, to be locked up for 2 days for the 14th Annual Faculty Doctoral Conference..
Flowerdale Estate is a very picturesque place - a place to relax.. but with so many presentations to listen to, and my presentation coming up the next day.. How can I relax?
We had breakfast when we reached.. then headed to the conference room for a long day (9.30am till 5.15pm)..
There were 20 PhD candidates and a number of staffs from the Faculty of Business and Economics..
The conference room was converted from... a barn!
Then, in the evening, we went to feed the alpacas nearby..
Alpacas are members of the camelid family. They are prized for their luxurious and costly fiber which is harvested by shearing once a year. They are native to the andes mountain of South America.
Alpacas which are not sheared yet..
Out of 20 PhD candidates who took part (They are around 3,500 PhD candidates in all Monash campuses around the world, 350 of them in School of Business and Economics in Caulfield Campus), there are 7 Malaysians who are presenting during the conference!
I was so exhausted but still insisted to snap pictures because I know we won't have much time to snap pictures the next day..
Then we checked into our rooms.. (one room per person)
Then we had dinner.. and a few games..
Dinner was quite alright.. I managed to finish everything except dessert.. which tasted a bit weird..
Later, we had karaoke session.. -_-" The karaoke machine is so ancient, we had to flip page by page to look for a particular song.. in fact, those songs were like the oldies from my dad's time :P
I didn't sleep well that night.. there was a huge housefly in my bedroom, which made loud noise whole night through :(
